Fixing the car

The window actuator on the Nissan went out on me. I ordered a new one online. It was $75 dollars.
I pulled up a video on youtYou, and it stepped me through the process. I had it done in about an hour. It's good to have the guts, and skills to try fixing things yourself.

Hike in Descanso

I wanted to scout some territory on the back side of Cuyamaca peak. The high is pretty brutal. About 1,500 feet of elevation climb, and it is very inclined. Lots of rocks.
I was worried about doing the hike alone, so I took my good buddy Bob with me. He is always up for a challenge.
We started off at about 6:30, and back to the truck at 9:40am. We then drove to Pine Valley, where we drove off road for a few miles scouting more places to hunt. There is a great little 50's style cafe in that Mountain town where we had breakfast/ lunch, then we drove home. Heck of a day.
The pictures don't do it justice, it was very steep.

Deep Sea fishing

Went Deep Sea fishing off the coast of Mexico. The Sales and marketing dept. put together this trip for our customers, and a hand full of employees. we departed San Diego about 10pm, got the the fishing grounds off Mexico about 5:30 am, fished until 1pm, and got back about 8:30pm.
The crew set up 5 poles across the stern, and fisherman 1-5 man those poles until we get a strike, (sometimes multiple fish on at a time) the Captain will bring the boat to a stop, the rest of the fisherman cast out their lines to try to catch something from the school we just hit, this went on as all 27 fisherman rotated their way through the task of trolling.
I caught 2 while trolling, and 1 casting off the side. the fish were all Tuna ( yellow fin, and skip jack for me) there was also a couple Dorado, and a Bonita caught.
Our customers are from the HVAC industry. We all had a great time.

Here we are coming back in at sunset

The girls are both home

Ready for a ride to the mountains . Trying to keep the girls riding skills sharp.
It never hurts to go to a Mountain town and appreciate being out of the city.

It's always good to have the girls back in town, especially when it is at the same time.
We know I enjoy riding, so they get on the bikes, and try to hit some spots that they like, the beach, the mountains, etc.

Sydney  and I rode with a friend to the pubs.We had some good food and hung out for a while.

Needed a paper towel holder that met my needs. I could not find what I needed at any store, so I new I would get more satisfaction out of making my own.
With bits of scrap items around the garage,  I made this one.
From a block of 1/2 inch polypropylene I cut the shape with a scroll saw, and drilled a hole with a paddle bit. Then threaded it with some 3/4 inch PVC, and some end caps.
Not bad.

Mom Died. Worst day of my life.

My lovely mother meant so much to so many, has passed away peacefully, after a blood clot caused her sudden passing.
Please say a prayer for her, and my Dad.
Mom recently had a shoulder surgery and was working on her recovery. She was getting more comfortable, and moved around to her comfort level. It was too much, and collapsed on the stairs, she had a hard to breathe. Dad called the paramedics.
Mom stopped breathing, and could not be revived.
It hurts to write this.
Dad was devastated that he could not do more. My poor Dad.
My Sister and her daughter arrived first, then my wife, myself and my daughters. The house was full of broken hearts.
We got the family affairs together, and had a memorial for Mom and a reception at the Catholic Church. We had a great turn out.
So many people had a story and a conveyance of love for Mom. I did my best to deliver a eulogy that would make mom proud.  May she rest in peace.
