Halloween

The girls relented, and went out yet again and tried to scare the locals.

Sydney went out with her two sftball/ school buddies.
Amber went out with her School friend, they kept an eye on the little girls.

Last Match

'A' s last match of the season posting a score of 54 was overshadowed by a local golfer two groups ahead who Eagled the always trickie (par 4)#5 hole on the North course. The fog was heavy that day my friends, but at this glorious moment the clouds parted, and from 170yds. away from the hole This golfer struck a mighty 6 iron with such crispness that the hit was hauntingly quiet. The wind paused the birds stopped chirping and a hush drew over the gallery. The ball took two hops, and rolled into the cup for an Eagle. A mighty roar errupted, and I can say that there wasn't a dry eye in the place. Photographers were able to just catch a glimpse and a photo of the heroic golfer before he just tipped his hat and.... disappeared.

Co-Medalist

'A' Was Co-Medalist. Which means she had the lowest score, and shared it with another girl on the team. She shot a 53 at Torrey Pines North. This is her second lowest score there. They won the match 278 - 379.
Notes from the gallery: 'A' chips in her 4th shot on number 1 to start the round with a par.
'A' plays her last League match on Thu (Oct-30) to finish the regular season against League leaders OLP ( Our Lady of Peace) Good Luck!

Vacation to Michigan

As usual I try to squeeze as much as possible into a short period of time.
I started off by flying in on a Tuesday evening, and my Dad picked me up. I practiced shooting my Bow.
The next day I got a hunting license, Visit Jack, and Steve. Jack was gratious enough to let me hunt on his property. He has farmland, fields, and woods on his property. Jack had a stand in the corner of the fields and fencelines, and saw a 8 point buck, and shot it. I was not as fortunate, but I was sitting in the beautiful woods and that to me is mostly what I go out for.
I was able to help jack find his downed deer, and help him bring it in. here is a picture of his trophy:

Here is the view from my stand:

I took my Dad out there the next evening, and we did not see any deer.

I spent the next day going to the Flint institute of Art where my Dad works as a part of the security team, and my Mom learns, and hones her craft of pottery.

My good friends Tony and Laura, and their boys came and picked me up to go north, and do some hunting at his brothers property.

Here is a view of their cabin

Kris, his girls, and Tony's boys, love to add some excitement to the fall season, and they spice up holloween with a haunted trail that goes behind the cabin. it is quite an event with lots of props, lighting, mirrors, and even a fog machine. lots of friends and family come over, and make it a big event.

Tony and I in the front yard.

We have a funny way of saying goodbye!

I saw a few other friends from the past:
Steve Edwards
Phil Dudzik

I also spent a few hours with Mark Cheza.
We had a few drinks together, maybe I had too much, but I decided to sleep it off at Marks. Thanks for putting me up for the night.
You are welcome for the extra strong coffee.
I need to get a picture of that guy.

I want to thank you all for giving me a fun and memorable vacation.

First Desert Trip of the Season

We went to Ococtillo wells this weekend, just for the day. We took the girls 'S' with her new bike (TTR 125), and 'A' with a borrowed bike, but new to her( CRF250x).
I got on my trusty CRF450. My bike ran a little rough, but it has sat too long, and needs the carbs cleaned. The Coffins went with us. Eric and his two girls. 14yr old, and 12yr old. We rode a total of 36 miles, and did plenty of hills, rocky trails, and washes. The hill climbs were pretty fun. We also ran down a couple of roads, and had a chance to open the bikes up and see how fast they could go. I think the girls liked that too.

We brought out the BB gun and shot some targets.

The dog also made a trip with us. she sniffed every plant, and ran around until she was exhausted.

Its that time of year!

This time of year produces a lot of fires. The Santa Ana winds ( dry hot winds from the East/ desert) move in. This coupled with the dry vegatation from a long summer with little rain.
The most current fire is in Camp Pendleton. Luckly It is sparsley populated up there. The Marine Fire Dept. has a good hold on the fire, and have it 70% contained.

GOLF
In other news, Mira Mesa Girls Golf had a meet on Tuesday against Crawford and MM won. 'A' shot a 56 @ balboa 9.
The girls also had a meet last night, @ Torrey pines, and The girls played Patrick Henry High, and also won. 'A' shot a 57.

6TH GRADE CAMP
This week has our youngest family member going to 6th grade camp, on Palomar Mtn. She will be there from Mon-Thr. We welcome her home tonight. I miss her very much. the house just has less color, and humor without her.

Blue Angels

What? The Blue Angels don't do aerobatics above your house?
They are doing their yearly Airshow, and they do practice rounds, show rounds, and Night shows all weekend.

Lost their first league match

The girls did not have a good match, they found themselves getting 5-10 strokes higher then normal.
'A' shot a 66.... yikes

3rd league win

MM beat Christian HS. 307 - 335.

'A' shot a 63. She struggled a bit.

I golfed 2 groups ahead of them, and shot a 49. it was a tough course, if you are in the rough, you are in that creaping crab grass B.S! it grabs your club, and slows it down, or twists it, or if it is on top of the grass instead of in it, .... you can end up launching it.

Here is me overlooking the famous 6th hole par 3. 165yrds, I used a 7 iron, and overshot it, then used an 8 iron to put it in close. What a tough course. I am very proud of 'A' when I hear her scores because I can appreciate the skill it takes to keep it out of trouble.
